Petunia was mostly at home, caring for her son Dudley when her husband returned home from his work at Grunnings, inquiring with her if she had heard from her sister. Her husband revealed that he had heard strange rumors about her sister, her husband and their son. She got angry and resented her sister and her family. She did not struggle against Vernon pushing Dudley out to get the trash out. When she woke up the next morning, she was horrified to find her nephew at her doorstep with a letter.
